How Many Airshows Are You Attending In 2018?

Post by RyanS » Sun Jan 07, 2018 9:20 pm

Schedules are out and some people probably know their plans for 2018, so let us know how many airshows you plan to attend! Fly-ins, open houses, airshows all count!

Bonus question - what's the furthest from home you are planning to go for an airshow?

Going to 4 shows in late April & May, all very close to home. Unfortunatley, that may be it for me. I'm a college student, so I'm short on time and money; looking forward to having more freedom for this once I graduate.

This list will include both JB Charleston and Wings over Myrtle Beach on the same weekend, looking forward to being utterly exhausted. Then, I'll be at Cherry Point the next week and Anderson 2 weeks later. I'm debating Oceana.

Here's what I have planned:

TBM Gathering
Cavalcade of Planes (Bolingbrook, IL)
The Great Air Clinic (Sheboygan, WI)
Airventure - three days
Terre Haute - probably both days
Thunder Over Michigan - one day
Waukegan
St. Louis - one day

Also hoping to do a day at Battle Creek, probably July 1 or 4. Kicking around the idea of maybe doing Danville, the WACO Homecoming at the WACO Museum or the Collings Foundation stop in Valparaiso. (Edit: Danville has apparently been cancelled, so that rules that one out).

I thought about Louisville, but it sounds like it would have to be an overnight trip for me due to the traffic issues of getting back over the river and I don't think that's worth it for a non-airport show. Bummed to be missing Goshen this year, but I needed to make time for a backpacking outing. :D

Looking forward to another fun year!

I am going to 4 (5 maybe) shows this year.

- Wings Over Northern Michigan Air Show
- Battle Creek Field Of Flight
- Thunder Over Michigan Air Show
- Cleveland National Airshow
- Vectren Dayton Air Show maybe

I am hoping that I can make it to a couple more this year but this is a good start.Looking Forward to this year!

Probably only attending 3 airshows, but maybe up to 5. Unless I win the lottery, then all bets are off.

Melbourne Air & Space Show (possibly)
Space Coast Warbird Airshow (possibly)
Sun-N-Fun (most likely)
Vero Beach (most likely)
NAS JAX (most likely)

Hoping to get to 7+ across the year. Currently planning on attending..

ILA Berlin
NATO Tiger Meet
KADEX, Astana
RAF Cosford
RNAS Yeovilton
RIAT, RAF Fairford
Radom, Poland
Bahrain

Also keen to get to Cherry Point, Abbotsford and/or London shows but that entirely depends on finding reasonably priced flights from the UK.

Here's my current schedule, hopefully with a few smaller fly-ins to be added once I know details. I have to be a little conservative this summer while I build up a vacation time bank at my new job, but depending on how it works out I may be able to make a late season travel show like Miramar or Nellis!

TBM Avenger Gathering - Peru, IL
St. Thomas, ON
Dayton, OH
Battle Creek, MI
Goshen, IN
Oshkosh, WI
Terre Haute, IN
Thunder Over Michigan - Belleville, MI
Cleveland, OH

Maybes/Backups:
B-17 Gathering - Urbana, OH
Gaylord, MI
Milwaukee, WI
Brantford, ON
London, ON

I don't think Monroe is having a show this year. Charleston, WV has a good lineup so far.
