2018 Wings Over Myrtle Beach

The show will take place at Myrtle Beach International Airport (not on the beach) on April 28-29. They are charging for admission ($30 to get in plus fees for preferred parking, seating, etc.), but they are also offering media passes for the Friday rehearsal to just about anyone.

ACC Aerial Events has also listed Myrtle Beach for a F-35 flyby. I'm wondering if it'll be a Saturday only thing as the Charleston airshow also has the F-35 listed. Looking forward to the airshow and hoping they have some more flybys planned too.

F-35 flybys will be both days. They arrived today and are staging at myrtle. Non edited photo. It was a great practice day today. Have media but shot offsite and got some really unique photos. It was a good day. Socom is jumping out of a c-130 from Minnesota. Of some concern there was no heritage flight today. Sky soldiers arrived late and did not practice. Arrivals were pretty cool with two a-10s from selfridge doing some nice low approaches as well as two strike eagles from Seymour both of which headed to CHS after their passes.

I'm watching the airshow live thanks to WMBF - the Blue Angels are just about to fly!

Apparently day one suffered from poor event organization and long lines (more so than usual). Some people waited 3 hours for a shuttle ride to the airport. People got misdirected to the wrong parking areas. Lots of angry posts on Facebook.

I was reading posts on Facebook about this show. It sounds like the parking situation was a mess. It also looks like they didn't have enough shuttle buses to get people into the air show.

Another great day! The wind was kind of annoying at first, but it did keep things cool. I'm still burned to a crisp. Saw the Skytypers performing some new maneuvers. The Blue Angels had some problems. #5 came in to land just before the sneak pass. Just after he took back off in the #7 jet, #4 dropped out of the delta and came in as well. They were already flying a two-seater in the #2 position because of the damage sustained last week. They also had a smoke system issue. No smoke on delta breakout or pitch break to land.

The event wasn't as disorganized as people made it out to be, although there were certainly less people there today. The only annoying thing is they delayed the gate opening until 8:40 and didn't start flying until 11. The staff were all inexperienced volunteers, so nobody really new what to expect.

Screen cap of Blue Angel Fleur de Lis without the slot pilot, I'm calling this the house formation.
