P&W Joint Testing Exercise with USAF (Miami, FL)
P&W Joint Testing Exercise with USAF (Miami, FL)
Good afternoon,
This Saturday morning the Pratt & Whitney South Florida posts will be hosting a joint testing exercise with several units of the United States Air Force at Miami Opa-Locka Airport or Coast Guard Air Station Miami.
Access to the airfield is only open to those employees of the logistics and testing departments who received invitations to the event. I am hearing they will be hosting 4 F-16 Fighting Falcons and two F-35 Lightning II's. All aircraft are expected to arrive to Opa Locka NLT Friday morning.
Testing will be taking place on the ground and in the air. So we are expecting a lot of noise on the ground and in the air. I am not sure if they will allow photography or video recording but if possible I will try my very best to get some pics or video.
Thank you.

FYI,
I just heard from my supervisor that we just got two confirmations from the Air Force. We are to be receiving two F-16's from the 93rd Fighter Squadron out of Homestead ARB and two F-35's from the 58th Fighter Squadron out of Eglin AFB.
In the previous post I mentioned that we would be hosting four F-16's but at the moment it doesn't appear that we will. I was given the okay to ONLY photograph arrivals and departures from inside the airfield.
Aircraft are set to arrive tomorrow but I wasn't given a specific time on when they will. I was also told all four aircraft will be staying Friday overnight at the Opa-Locka airfield but will depart to Homestead ARB after the testing exercise is completed.
Thanks!

Good morning from Miami Opa-Locka Airport,
- We have activity in the air! Approximately at 10:07 AM two F-16's flew in formation over runway 9L/27R. They are currently circling around for another pass.
I will keep updating the feed and will try to get some pics in by the end of the day.

As I expected the two other F-16's that were requested were not given the approval to come down. Air Force thought 4 birds were sufficient enough.
Those F-16's requested were coming from Shaw AFB.
