Seems like there will be some extra solo passes from the F-35 HF sequence.

Here is what is stated in the 2018 Demo Team and Support Manual:

"NOTE: The F-35 profile will include three non-aerobatic solo passes, most likely before the first HF formation pass, for consistency between HF performances."

Here is the link to the support manual. Scroll down to page 28 to see the note.

Very interesting to see extra passes. I wonder if this will pave the way to a full demo next year?

Rhode Island added.

YEEEEES!

ACC cannot forget Northeast F-35 fans.

Hopefully it will be approved.

According to the ACC Support Manual, the F-35 will be performing a three pass mini-demo at airshows this year!

Too bad it doesn’t mention what the passes will be. Non-aerobatic suggests that they may just be limited to level passes, maybe one banana pass. Can’t wait to find out first hand.

Personally, I’m more interested in the fact that the F-16 and A-10 demonstrations will be incorporating PYROTECHNICS into their shows this year!!!
The F-16 and A-10 demonstration will only utilize pyrotechnics (pyro) as a Wall of Fire and only during the High Speed Pass (F-16) and Low Angle Strafe Passes (A-10). Only ICAS approved personnel will be permitted to utilize pyrotechnics (pyro) in association with the ACC F-16 / A-10 demonstration teams.

Like we said in the blog, the typical mini demo is a photo pass, a high speed pass, and a slow pass. I'm excited to get a photo pass out of it.

The pyro for the A-10 and F-16 isn't new this year actually, but they rarely do it with the F-16. The A-10 gets it a decent amount - up to the show.

Ok, I remember single pyro explosions for the A-10, but not a wall. It’s been a while for me. Think I’ve seen maybe one video of a wall behind the F-16?

Well, the F-35 schedule just took a ridiculous turn and not for the better. 5 shows have been cancelled. They have been listed as "aircraft cancelled".

April 28-29 Myrtle Beach, SC
May 5-6 MCAS Cherry Point, NC
August 2-5 Seattle, WA
September 14-16 Reno, NV
October 13-14 Ft. Worth, TX

Also 2 shows have been added/changed to have the F-35 as static only.

April 3-8 Santiago, Chile
April 25-29 Berlin, Germany

It will be very interesting to see the reasoning for why the ACC cancelled these apperances. Hopefully we hear something soon.

EDIT: Looks like Chicago and Rhode Island are approved, and RIAT was added.

So RIAT is on there. I almost feel sorry about that now.

Bummer on Reno... That would've been awesome to see it pair up with the F-16.

Miami's airshow is in jeopardy of cancelling, which if it does cancel the F-35 Heritage Flight Team would have an open weekend.
