Sad news. Due to operational requirements, the Super Hornet Demo Team from VFA-106 will not be performing this weekend as well as the remainder of this year.

Bummer.....glad we at least got to see the Growler up at Gaylord.

Still should be a solid lineup with the T-Birds, F-22 and Harrier though.

AND, the weather looks outstanding for the weekend......sunny and 84° both days!

Can't wait....heading north tomorrow! 8-)

I was really looking forward to seeing the F18 demo, but the Thunderbirds are the main reason I was planning on going.

I'm driving up and around tomorrow too. Just gotta get through a day and a half of work first.

Just left the open ramp and it was pretty cool. They didn’t have any chains around the harriers so we were able to get right up close to them. There just so happened to be a Mig-17 there from Mig Alley so that was a surprise. Plus they had a Lamborghini countach right up by one of the raptors which made for some good pics. Here’s a few unedited pics I got of some planes on the ground.

Great pics JAckrmn, as a plane guy and a car guy, that Countach with the Raptor is one awesome photo op.
I'll be leaving in the morning from Ann Arbor, got an airbnb in Suttons Bay for the entire week, air show day for me will be Sunday. Haven't missed it in 10+ years.

Nice pictures! I'll have to upload a few from Saturday when I get home tonight. I'm definitely glad that I made the drive over for it.

Duluth is a great airshow, great lighting for photos
only problem is finding a hotel room, its tough on weekends to get rooms anywhere in Duluth being a major tourist destination, i have a room booked for 2 nights close to the airport but i am going to give it up, at $260 a night that is just too much, even places well outside of town are full as i thought about trying to find something cheaper, even camp grounds are full

going to head there for thursday and hope to catch some arrivals, the Blues should be coming in thursday., will get a room thursday night out of town, catch fridays practice day, after that don't know, hotels are full and expensive, may make the just over 4 hour drive to Fargo and catch the Thunderbirds there, the the Blues and Birds all in one weekend

Seeing both in one weekend would be awesome! I got a friend to tag along this weekend and we tent camped. Getting shots of the Milky Way was on my to do list so we found a spot in the state forest and camped right on the beach and I got my pics. It was perfect. But that was still a 4hr drive Saturday morning which wasn't that much fun.

Completely agree about $260/night being too much.

Was a great weekend in TC! Went out to watch both days, but on Sunday we decided to change things up and took the kayaks out to get a little closer to the action. While it can be done, shooting from a kayak isn't exactly the best way to get steady pics! Being on the water is definitely the best way to watch this show though.....super close Raptor fly-bys and T-Bird sneak passes right over us made the extra effort worthwhile!
