Duxford Battle of Britain Airshow

The Duxford Battle of Britain Airshow was the penultimate major air display of the UK season. The show took on a 'At the Movies' theme marking the 50th Anniversary of the general release of the 'Battle of Britain' movie and also Duxford's significant role in many other productions such as 'Memphis Belle.' The weather for the first day was almost perfect with blue skies throughout. Unfortunately the second day was a different story as weather front crossed the UK and affected the middle part of the flying programme. The show finale commenced with massed display of 16 Spitfires with 15 of those taking part in a large formation flypast. Brian Smith concluded the first day with a solo display in Spitfire LFIX MH434 in tribute to Mark Hanna who played a major role in many film productions and would have celebrated his 60th Birthday in 2019. Sunday's show concluded with a solo display in a Spitfire FRXVIII by Cliff Spink who was performing his final public displays at Duxford after 28 years flying warbirds.
