I definitely want to see the Buff, but I don't want to wait out there all day and then see nothing, leave and have missed it all. Arrivals have to be scheduled somehow - it's an airport, so I'd have thought they'd all have arrival times.

Anybody out there at the Airport have any info you can give us?

It's been a long time since I saw a Buff flying, so I'm pretty pumped!
To give you a perspective, the bulk of the arrivals last year was between 10-6. There was some downtime at certain points, but for the most part, fairly active. If I find out specific times (especially the Buff), I can post it here. Maybe try to check in the forums more often that day to and not miss anything ;)

Thanks Dan!

I have no mobile devices (That's right, I'm one of those people!), so checking day of isn't going to work, but 10-6 is good to know.

Thanks a lot and I hope he show they put on coming in is better than the Monday Morning last year!

Now that the forums are back...

USN F-35C from NAS Lemoore added to the static list!

Also, the website seems to have leaked an Alaska ANG KC-135 and "Black Knight" T-33 for flying display! F-15E Strike Eagles from Mountain Home AFB for static display!

so the marketing team releases this F-35C yesterday as a shhh the web release is tomorrow and then in stealth mode drops a KC-135 and T-33 as performers and F-15E 's as static in plain sight but not announced? Must be new school marketing I don't get it.

Faust,

For various reasons, despite having photo pit passes, I shot arrivals outside the fence on Robbins Hill Road in 2016 and 2017 (Did 2018 inside the fence and I am thinking that arrivals landed from the south last year...). It isn't rush hour but it was well worth it. As Dan says most of the traffic comes between 10 and 6, the afternoon being busier than the mornings.

I did not see an arrivals schedule either year, though info would leak out online (This is something the show could certainly address). Best bet is an air band radio/scanner which should give you some warning of what is coming. You also get a few other enthusiasts out there with radios and some inside knowledge.

Bring a book, wait patiently and you will be well entertained throughout the day. Most arrivals will do a couple of passes at least.

Dan,

Thanks for the update. Arrivals is looking better and better (Need Mudhen passes...)... now if only that AK tanker would drag down some AK aggressors!

cheers

Mark

Do the police have an issue with parking along Robins Hill Rd just on Thurs if they are running runway 15 ops?

Can't speak for 2018 but for 2016/17 they were on 15 ops on the Thursday. I was there all day Thursday both years amongst a bunch of others and no issues with the authorities. I would expect as long people stay well off the road and don't block any crash gates it will be fine.

I wonder what happened to the "Full announcement coming tomorrow at 12 noon!". How many times have we been told that something really big, spectacular etc will be announced, then very little. Yes, the statics are impressive, flying display not so much. I'll probably take a pass on ASL this year, it's just not worth the price of gas, hotel and ticket. If I lived in the London area, I'd watch the arrivals from the outside and call it a day.

When arrivals are using RWY33, usually cops don't have an issue. Just respect the area. Lots of people over the years have thrown the trash everywhere and it doesn't go well for those who are truly there for aircraft and respect the grounds.

For RWY15, Robins Hill Rd is a major roadway out of London and is way busier. Traffic stopped on the sides of the roads pose a much higher safety concern and usually have a higher Police presence. I can't speak much over the last couple years to people being booted since I've been inside the fences. I think Robins Hill Rd is certainly tighter.
