Unless my eyesite is failing me , this looks to be one of the first times that I can remember , in which we didnt receive an acc demo. Disappointing .

Most likely because we have the Thunderbirds. These days it is becoming more rare to have both, and unheard of north of the border since Sequestration.

Well, our big hope is obviously for a visit from the touring Red Arrows. Hopefully not just wishful thinking, but three teams would certainly make up for the lack of an acc demo!!

I would like to think not having the blues this year , possibly could mean getting back our resident us navy super hornet demo back.

Sorry, got bad news for you there too. Rumour has it there will be little to no Rhino demos in 2019. ** The organizers will have to get creative to get more burners in the lineupin 2019. Maybe we can hope for an F-35 corporate demo or Eurofighter as the CF-18 replacement talk starts to heat up...

** Regarding the Rhino comment above, apparently based on comments at ICAS there is some hope for TAC demos in 2019 for shows not getting the Blues so that might work out after all. (See Rhino TAC demo thread in these forums)

The Aeroshell Aerobatic Team has been confirmed to appear in 2019, nice. I love hearing those Harvards, it is music to the ears, especially when they chase each other. So that is 3 aerobatic teams. Great job Abby team. Now, just hoping the Reds can come. I am sure Abbotsford will be an attraction to them.

The Rhino demo is dependant on how busy they are training pilots. Apparently there is a shortage of naval aviators and VF-122 is being kept busy with their day jobs.
Great to see Aeroshell back, lots of smoke and noise!!

Very excited for the AeroShell team, they put on an amazing smoke filled night show!

I will try my best to keep this thread as updated as possible for 2019 and anything posted in my original post will only be updated when OFFICIALLY confirmed. I want to keep the information provided here as accurate as possible. Feel free to discuss rumours but make sure it’s indicated that they are simply that, and not something that is 100% confirmed. I also want to clarify that I am simply a fan that is posting information for the show and not someone that actually works with the Abbotsford Airshow society.

When it comes to the Red Arrows, the Airshow is not expecting them, but that certainly does not mean they are crossed out. Abby has been in talks with Red Arrows at ICAS from what I’ve heard. Nothing I would be concerned about too much as of yet, but Abbotsford has always had the attitude of not expecting things until they are officially confirmed.

I have a good feeling about the Superhornet demo, but I don’t expect any information until spring time on that.

It's actually more of an issue of airworthy aircraft than a shortage of pilots. Last year there was a point in which one-third of all Navy Super Hornets aircraft were actually airworthy and not down for maintenance.
