EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 2019
Airshow organization was an absolute train wreck today, but at least most of the cool stuff got to go for once. I was worried they would end up cutting the entire warbirds segment.
here are lots of Mustangs!

I wish the organizers would highlight the rare new and unusual aircraft more. I came to get pictures of the P-82, Mosquito, B-26, B-29’s and A-4’s. So far all I have seen is one pass of the P-82 and have it land on the far runway. The B-26 one pass and land on the far runway. Mosquito three passes but they were all belly passes. B-29 Doc one pass the EAA B-17 just keeps flying over head but never come down. The B-29’s and B-17 keep flying in and out of Appleton why can’t they operate out of Oshkosh. The organizers send up T-6’s, Navions and T-28’s by the dozens making pass after pass but can’t make the time for really unusual planes making four or five passes

This was definitely true for the three days I was there (Monday-Wednesday). The Warbirds of America shows all three of those days were pretty lame. Monday's show is always trainers, which is cool with the mass arrivals, but they essentially did the same show two days in a row and then totally punted on Wednesday. The T-28/T-34 anniversary wasn't very interesting compared to what they did for the T-6s last year. At least the T-6 anniversary still incorporated some other interesting aircraft before the celebration and there were actually planes low and in front of the crowd more than once every five minutes. The XP-82 and B-25s on Tuesday somewhat salvaged those shows from a warbird standpoint. It's always a risk to only commit to the first half of the week (I have an annual commitment that usually conflicts with the second half of the week), but I'm usually able to see a good selection of fighters/bombers/transports/jet warbirds fly in the show. That definitely wasn't the case this year.Grunt087 wrote: ↑Fri Jul 26, 2019 4:42 pm I wish the organizers would highlight the rare new and unusual aircraft more. That being said, the military arrivals Monday night were fantastic and the Heritage Flights were great. I also lucked into being in the right spot for a lot of good ground action with interesting aircraft taxying by. It wasn't a bad year by any means, just thought it was odd that Warbirds of America didn't show off much earlier in the week. It won't change the fact that I'll keep going back.
I'm in the process of going through photos and should have some to post soon.
