Breitling to end sponsorship of Jet Team at the end of 2019

Post by Flightline Uk » Tue Jul 02, 2019 11:55 am

Apache Aviation announces that at the end of the 2019 season, its team of seven L-39 Albatros will no longer fly under the colours of the Breitling brand.

Breitling has decided not to renew at the end of the year its sponsorship contract with Apache Aviation, operator of the Breitling Jet Team for 17 years.
Breitling Jet Team was established in 2003 as the world's first professional civilian aerobatic team flying on jet.

The patrol occurred in Europe, Asia, Middle East, North America, performing hundreds of demonstrations with its 7 L39 Albatros jets. It also introduced thousands of passengers to the thrill of aerobatics training, with Apache Aviation being the only organization in the world to offer this type of multi-jet experience.

Apache Aviation is an aerobatic team operator since 1982 known under the colors of Martini, Ecco / Adecco and Breitling.
To date, it has safely made 3,000 demonstrations in 39 countries.
For the 2020 season and beyond, Jacques Bothelin, President of Apache Aviation, is setting up a search strategy for sponsors based on unique know-how developed over 37 years of aerial demonstrations. The future of the team he leads should be ensured through either a single sponsor or a pool of co-sponsors.

"The fighter is a machine of excellence, an unparalleled vehicle for communication to ensure a single brand visibility, whether on public events, via the Internet and social networks and by all private operations for which the patrol is at the sponsor's disposal, and aerial acrobatics offers a fascinating show, a compendium of mastery and style. " recalls Jacques Bothelin.

Flexible, transgenerational and unrestrained by a sporting calendar, the Aerobatic Team is the communication tool that offers one of the best returns on investment and an unforgettable customer experience. Apache Aviation's future partners will benefit from 30 annual demonstrations in 10 European countries, complemented by tailor-made o.

Glad I got the privilege to see them as the Breitling Jet Team when they came to North America a couple years.

Here's my video of their performance at the 2015 Rhode Island Airshow: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0INupAjVlAg

Hope they find someone else, it's not cheap to sponsor 7 jets!

I heard the rumour on Friday, but it was announced officially today that the BJT has made its last public display.

Stoked that I got the privelege to see them fly and listen to their cockpit audio in Abbotsford, BC then. May you find new sponsorship soon and come back to the West Coast to grace our skies again!

Cheers!

Unfortunately this is the end of the team, new sponsorship is no longer an outcome which would change the situation.

A real shame indeed. At least I got to see them at Rhode Island back in 2015. Best of luck to the pilots going forward.

Good news that the Apache Aviation Jet Team will continue its display and experience flying operations with some new co-sponsors for a while yet. Details on a title sponsor will be announced soon if negotiations conclude positively.

// APACHE AVIATION: JET TEAM IN STANDBY //

Jacques Bothelin was expecting to announce on February 28th during the European Airshow Council Convention in Brussels, the identity of the new main sponsor of its Jet Team...the first civilian professional Jet Team (ex Breitling Jet Team).
Unfortunately, negotiations will not be closed for that date, which means the announcement, if it is confirmed, is postponed.
Apache Aviation has already secured co-sponsors that enable to start display and passenger flight activity (L39 and TB3O Epsilon) for the first part of the season.
Potential partners who would like to take the opportunity to join this unique 30 years successful adventure are welcome!
