This piece of news slipped my radar, but evidently Matt made the announcement earlier this year at the Battle Creek Air Show. 2019 will be his last year performing aerobatics at air shows after a 37 year career. Julie Clark is also retiring this year after 42 years of air shows. Matt's last three air shows are below:

Oct 4-5: Wings Out West
Oct 18-20: Wings Over Houston

Nov 7-9: NAS Pensacola

Glad I got to see Matt Chapman two months ago at the New York Air Show. Had the privilege of seeing Matt perform a couple times. First saw him is 2000 at NAS Oceana when he was flying the CAP 232. I saw him again fly seven years later at the Rhode Island Airshow when he was performing a two-ship routine with Michael Mancuso. The several shows after that I got to see Matt's solo performance in the CAP 232 was at Langley AFB in 2008, NAS Oceana in 2010 and at McGuire AFB, NJ and Chicago, IL in 2014. Also got to see the 4CE performance which featured Matt Chapman as well as Bill Stein, Rob Holland and Jack Knutson. I sure am gonna miss his aerobatic performance.

Here's my video of his performance at New York: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nBcya3oyYtg

Thank you Matt for the amazing performances you put on in the Extra 330LX and previously the CAP 232.

I was at his final performance at the Blue Angels Homecoming Show, and posted about him here. I was close enough to get a few shots of the fun when he exited his plane at the end.
