Ah, just what we needed - a fifth airshow joining the list of those claiming to be "Asia's largest"!

This has been in the works for several years now, see https://www.ttgmice.com/2019/08/06/thai ... h-airshow/. I'm very sceptical it'll ever achieve much size or status, either as a trade event (there are already more trade shows than are required in Asia, most of which are hosted in wealthier, faster-growing and more influential places) or as a spectacle in terms of its aerial displays. Thailand hasn't had an active national aerobatic team for quite a few years now, nor a single civilian airshow performer, and many of the surrounding countries and Thailand's closest allies (Singapore, Malaysia, Vietnam etc) are in the same position. Neither do any of them produce indiginous aircraft to show off, and none bar Malaysia, which already has its own big trade show, are in the midst of a particularly high-profile procurement/evaluation process which might tempt manufacturers to take part. On the basis of previous airshows in Thailand, I can't see them stretching out the flying display for much more than an hour.

I had already booked a hotel, but guess I'll cancel it! :P
