Airshow Radio Monitoring

Almost time to set up a scanner close by and stream it. Then use your cellphone to monitor the stream. Then use your bluetooth earpiece to listen to all the action! As far as anyone knows you're just on the phone listening to music! And failing that, stay off-site somewhere close by and monitor all the action in the comfort of your own lawnchair

Sometimes you have to think outside the "box".

With the announcement of the RAF Red Arrows North American Tour you may wish to tune your scanners up to be able to hear the action!

They have been using their main frequency during practice and flight.

243.4500 MHz AM (Main comms)
242.2000 MHz AM (Alternate comms)

Thanks for this Gary, I may have only joined the forum today but I used a lot of this info at last year's Aero-Gatineau show. I even had a videographer record my scanner during the Snowbirds' performance to use in his video!

I'm going again this year (AG18 was my 1st airshow but I've got the bug now!) and the USAF F-35 Lightning II demo is going to be there. I've looked high and low, and can't seem to find any mention of their radio freqs. Can you (or anyone else) help me out on this? As a solo act I'm guessing he doesn't say much but I'd like to hear what I can!

Oh and thanks for confirming the Red Arrows' freqs... I'm going to their performance in Gatineau too!

Was just at the Abbotsford Airshow over the weekend. For anyone interested the Canadian Skyhawks Parachute Team was heard coordinating on 136.0000MHz.

I also monitored:

Team Aero Shell and Jelly Belly on 122.9250MHz
Precision Exotics and Jelly Belly on 123.4250MHz
CF-18 Hornet Demo on Tower and 333.3000MHz.

Looking forward to Oregon in a few short weeks!

It would appear that a number of US Fighter demo teams have two frequencies in common:

376.0250 MHz and 384.5500 MHz

This includes the F15E (Strike Eagle), F16CJ (Viper), F18 (Hornet), F22A (Raptor), A-10 (Thunderbolt), to name a few.


Still interested to have active listeners / scanner enthusiasts post their newfound frequencies in this thread for all to enjoy.


Has anyone found a frequency for this year's F-35 Demo Team yet?
Pretty certain it will be in the Military UHF (AM) range...

Sure enough...after doing my research from a few previous 2019 airshows throughout North America, I am now able to confirm after attending the latest Oregon International Airshow that the F-35 Demonstration Team uses 255.1000AM and 255.1500AM for their on-air coordination. These frequencies were used in conjunction with the VHF Air Boss frequency.

Off to see the RAF Red Arrows as they fly over Vancouver, BC tonight at 5pm before they head out to the Mirimar Airshow tomorrow to fly with the USN Blue Angels.

Hopefully this thread is still "alive." I've been going to shows for a number of years now and looking to upgrade my basic RadioShack scanner to something better. My friend has the bc125 but couldn't get any military channels while I could. Any recommendations on scanners or if we were doing something wrong? Trying not to break the bank also on buying one. Thanks for any help!

I use the BC125 and have all kinds of military frequencies in it. So something must be wrong on your end. The BC125 is a great scanner.
