I am starting this NEW thread for those of you interested in the monitoring of air comms at the airshows you attend.

My home team is the CANADIAN SNOWBIRDS

My home airshow is the ABBOTSFORD INTERNATIONAL AIRSHOW in British Columbia, Canada.

VERY interested in this thread also! I will have to take a look around and see if I can find any frequencies that worked for me.

Of Interest:

During the 2016 Abbotsford Airshow I heard one of the performers talking on an FRS channel (Family Radio Service UHF Allocations) complaining that some part had fallen off his aircraft and he wasn't sure if it was during his flight or during movement on the ground as it was now missing!! Several other supposedly "private" comms were also monitored on the FRS radio too! Something to keep in mind when at the airshow and having tunnel vision when it comes to Comms. As a result I find myself scanning more than just the VHF/UHF air bands now.

The Blue Angels have already done 3 shows on the 2018 show season and the airshow year is well under way! Their practice flights and most recent shows can be viewed on YouTube. The ones that are marked in the lower right hand corner as "Witman" are, in my opinion, the best as they include all the cockpit audio! Speaking of which...still seeking confirmations please.

Great topic as I usually go to Battle Creek, MI and Ypsilanti, MI (Thunder over MI) every year. Have went to Dayton multiple times and used to in old days go to Kalamazoo and Muskegon. Usually just searched aircraft band and usually found Air Boss reasonably quick and random acts thru out the day. Never really wrote them down as I assumed they changed up all of the time. I just got a BC125AT so 1st year having military band. You can bet that I'll take great notes to confirm Frequencies or add to the list. Randu

I have a bunch of older Thunderbird and Blue Angel Frequencies in my scanners. Most of the time they use the same ones year to year with only minor changes. The first airshow for me this year is Battle Creek Field of Flight and Balloon Festival so i will not have any new frequencies till after that.

Please feel to share them here unless you would rather PM me with certain frequencies that may be "discreet". :D

Grab your cameras and scanner!!!

The Snowbirds have arrived in the Comox Valley as of the weekend and are practicing (2 shows a day) from now until the 24th of April. They will be signing autographs after their 2nd show on the 21st at the museum located at CFB19 Wing Comox. The CF-18 Hornet joins in this week too! The only damper currently is the weather as the forecast calls for rain right through the upcoming weekend.

Another noteworthy tidbit of information is that, as a thank you to the residents of the Comox Valley, the base opens up Airforce Beach to the general public for viewing while the Snowbirds are in town! Normally it is patrolled by the Military Police and is classified as a "Restricted Area". This is, in my opinion, the best viewing location as it is located right at the end of the runway and the Snowbirds fly right overhead as they take off to head out over Georgia Strait :D

Check out their inaugural Comox Spring Training dedication flight to the USAF Thunderbirds as posted by Capt. Pierre-Marc Deschene and Corp. Kyle Van Tol.
