Elgin Wells, known for his "Starjammer" routine was killed when his aerobatic aircraft crashed during a practice flight ahead of the Zhengzhou airshow in Zhengzhou, China.

I was there, it was a very sad day. All credit to Elgin's team, who were wonderful. They had a very tough few days. There was a touching tribute to him at the closing ceremony, and several missing man formations flown throughout the week by the Global Stars. It was nice to see how everyone came together following the accident. I only regret I didn't properly get to know Elgin before it was too late.
