A small plane crashed on the 101 Freeway in Los Angeles this afternoon, closing the freeway in both directions. The plane experienced an engine failure on takeoff, and touched down on the highway before smashing into the divider. The plane was later identified as an AT-6 Texan from the Condor Squadron at Van Nuys Airport. The plane is marked with decals to resemble a German WWII aircraft. The pilot was initially trapped inside the cockpit of the burning wreckage, but was rescued by the fire department. His name has not been released, but he is uninjured.

Condor Squadron AT-6 crash in Los Angeles
Glad he got out, sucks to lose an airplane though. Some day T-6s will be as rare as Mustangs are today!
