Prepare to feel the need for speed. In addition to the US Navy's Leap Frogs Parachute Team, the F-35C Lightning II Airshow Team from VFA-125 "Rough Riders" will participate in this year's Wings Over South Texas.
NAS Kingsville officially announced today that the United States Navy Parachute Team “The Leap Frogs” and the Strike Fighter Squadron (VFA) 125 F-35 Flight Demonstration Team have committed to participate in the Wings Over South Texas Air Show, April 4-5.

The two teams join a star-studded aerial lineup that features the world-famous U.S. Navy Flight Demonstration Squadron, the Blue Angels, and a host of other military and civilian performers. Since 1946, the Blue Angels have represented the Navy and Marine Corps across the country and around the world, thrilling audiences with their precision flight maneuvers and aerobatics.

The Leap Frogs are the official parachute demonstration team of the United States Navy, under the command of the Naval Special Warfare Command. The team is comprised of active-duty Navy SEALs, Special Warfare Combatant-craft Crewmen, and support personnel. VFA 125, also known as the "Rough Raiders,” is based at Naval Air Station Lemoore, California. The "Rough Raiders" are a Fleet Replacement Squadron flying the F-35C Lightning II. Check out:

Admission and parking for the two-day event is free to the public and festivities kick off Friday night, April 3rd, at 6 p.m., with a city sponsored “Meet the Blues” event at the J.K. Northway Exposition Center in Kingsville. Visit our web site www.wingsoversouthtexas.com for additional information.

We have received a number of calls, messages, and emails asking about the status of the air show.

We are still preparing to host the air show as scheduled.

We continue to monitor the situation but based on the information we have today from the CDC and Texas Department of Public Health, we believe there is little risk of exposure.

We are taking measures to further minimize the risk. We intend to increase the number of hand washing stations and provide hand sanitizer for base employees. We will also make frequent announcements reminding people of ways to minimize their risk of exposure.

Deciding whether to attend is a personal decision and we would encourage anyone who is in a high risk category, or who believes they may have been exposed to the virus or who is having flu-like symptoms to stay home.
