After careful consideration, the ROKAF has decided to not participate in the 『Singapore Airshow 2020 (Feb. 11-16)』.
The decision was made as part of a government-wide effort to prevent the spread of the new coronavirus infection and as part of a preemptive measure to ensure the safety of our military personnel.

I would like to express my sincere gratitude to both domestic and international fans who supported us and looked forward to our participation in the Singapore Airshow.

Several exhibitors (Textron and Gulfstream) have also pulled out. All the Chinese exhibitors are also unable to attend as there is a travel ban in place. I guess this show might be a very muted affair.

Singapore is taking this very, very seriously. My immediate family still live out there and in their workplace they're being temperature-checked each morning and wear stickers so people know they're verified to be "clean". They were the first country to close its borders to people coming from China and have recently expanded this to include all people who have recently been there. They have also distributed free masks to every household (albeit have emphesised that they're only intended for people who might actually be ill and there's no reason for ordinary, healthy people to wear one). It seems all this has worked as there have been no new cases there for a few days now.

It doesn't help that the organisers haven't been very transparent at any point. There's one week until the show and still no list of flying display aircraft from them! Knowing how things work out there, they're probably waiting until every act is 100% nailed down before publishing the full list in one go, but that's not actually very helpful for a couple of friends visiting from abroad, who just want an official indication of what size and scale the show's going to be to help them decide whether or not to cancel their flights!

On another note, it seems the F-15SG will be flying an "integrated display" of some kind, rather than a solo. So that's a bit of good news I suppose.

Rumoured some months ago but frankly dismissed by almost everyone after several false alarms over the past decade, but it seems the People's Liberation Army Air Force's August 1st team have just rolled up in Singapore with their Chengdu J-10s. I wonder how they circumnavigated the very comprehensive travel ban Singapore has in force currently?! Either way, I really regret not being there now, suddenly it's a world-class airshow again. And just imagine, what if it had worked out for Sarang and the Black Eagles, too? What a show that would have been!

That is ….. extraordinary! :?
SHANGHAI (Reuters) - China’s air force will participate in the upcoming Singapore Airshow, the country’s defence ministry said on Wednesday, at a time when concerns over the spread of a virus from China are overshadowing Asia’s biggest aerospace and defence event.
China’s defence ministry said in a post on its official WeChat account that its air force had been invited by Singapore to take part in the airshow between Feb 5-18, adding that it would nine aircraft and more than 100 personnel.

Flying display officially confirmed: August 1st (6 J-10s), USMC F-35B, USAF F-22A, USAF PACAF F-16C and RSAF Integrated Aerial Display Team (F-15SG and two Apaches)

EDIT: Just noticed Team Jupiter are not on the official list! I'm not sure what's happened to them, but they left their home base to head to Singapore on Monday and are currently island-hopping across Indonesia on their way to the show!

The USAF PACAF F-16 Demo Team have also not been included.

It seems Jupiter Aerobatic Team got as close as Batam, which is a 40 minute ferry ride from Singapore, then cancelled without giving a reason and are returning to home.

You couldn't make this stuff up! I remember in 2014, Singapore and Indonesia decided to kick off a diplomatic spat during the airshow and JAT jumped ship and flew home before the event ended. It must be a nightmare trying to run an airshow in this kind of environment.
