More Great News for the Thunder Over Michigan show! The German Air Force (Luftwaffe), will flight display their Airbus A-400M Atlas transport aircraft both Saturday and Sunday, August 7 and 8, 2021 at the Thunder Over Michigan Air Show at the Willow Run Airport at Ypsilanti, Michigan. This will be the first aerial display of this aircraft at a North American air show. Another Thunder First!!
Wonder if it will fly the morning or afternoon show or both.

I *believe* the stated intention is to have the same lineup for both, aside from the headliner.

Awesome. Can’t wait to see it fly then.

Hopefully... I would feel bad for someone who has already chosen morning or afternoon to now have acts appear in the other show. With the ramp space they have, I am a little confused as to why they have 2 shows each day. They should be able to pack enough cars into there to make a full day show economically viable.

- John Bagley: DHC-4 Caribou *Tentative*

Korean War Hero will be flown by Scooter for the Legacy Flight. Quicksilver will not be present otherwise (unless a decision is made to go with the Class of ‘45. Never say never. Still plenty of time until the show, but that’s where it stands now).

As for the museum’s former Caribou that is now owned by John Bagely, it still has a lot of work to be done. It had the work done to get it to ferrying status but a lot has to be done to it before it can start being flown regularly again. Makes it an unlikely candidate for this year but it will be around in future years for sure (and it’s history at the airport will make its return trips special)

I've been idle for quite some time, but now I'm actively back, and this is... somewhat of an intense line-up, and I caught wind of how YAM handpicked out a Luftwaffe A400M Atlas, but as not just a static display but as a flight display, the definition of that headline, must have everyone in the area running (fugitively) to Ysplaniti that weekend, let alone the Thunderbirds, F-35A Demo Team, and the Growler, in which case from what I'm overhearing is the Growler will be doing a Mini Demonstration Flight alongside a F4U Corsair for the legacy flight. Oh, I wouldn't forget to mention about a dozen Mitchells buzzing the airspace as well.

Indeed it is :D

Along side the A400 flying display, Tom Walsh mentioned on his Facebook page that there some other goodies that will be present but he is "not at at liberty" to announce them just quite yet.

TOM has had the A400 as a static for a few years now, and finally seeing it off the ground should be pretty special. Have to imagine it’s the same plane we see on the flight tracker flying between Maine and Nellis every so often. Haven’t personally seen it because it’s always cloudy around here, but have heard it go over a few times. Can’t wait to finally see it fly.
