I'm curious how arrivals will be this year. Last year's 5R (main runway) was fantastic. 23R is that main Ecorse runway I've seen plenty of footage from, I'm not sure how/if the Thunderbirds being there will shut that off or not. No idea if 27 has anywhere to hang out for approaches.

Thought for fun I would add in here some recent Mitchell gathering goal numbers as Michael keeps adding to the list...

14- OSH's recent amount
15- TOM 2007's amount
16- 16 will break the recent "airshow" record which was TOM's
17- Doolittle gathering 2010's amount
19- Doolittle gathering 2012's amount
20- Break ALL gathering records for good!

No matter what, 16+ will break the recent record for Mitchell's in the air together for an airshow specifically, so it'll be a must see for sure! Not to mention the variety that Michael has pulled together so far is pretty different than any of the other recent gatherings. Time to set another record!

My buddy and I were just out there a couple of days ago and there is a lot(3) of places to shoot Runway 27 arrivals, you can be right on Beck Rd to get belly shots, you can go on the Ecorse service drive and shoot arrivals after 6pm, unless you don't care about backlit shots but the main spot where a lot of people may hangout is A st, right off of Beck Rd. The lighting will be perfect from 9am to 6pm. Now, regarding the teams practice, I think that'll stay the same and either that Runway 5R spot, near the ILS Structures that you were talking about would be good or the Ecorse Service Drive will be decent. My only issue is that, I hope this show isn't like the 2014 or 2016, where they had a concrete post right at Txwy Golf and it interfered with a lot of shots, including the sneak passes.

This email was just sent out to people who are subscribed to the Thunder Over Michigan email. They are gonna allow the public to walk around the static displays only and I assume not the birds that are gonna fly, but I could be wrong.
