The date posted for Louisville by the USAF F-16 Fighting Falcon Demo is interesting.

As it stands right now, the Kentucky Derby is on schedule to be run on the traditional first Saturday in May with limited capacity. Thunder Over Louisville is typically the kickoff to the Kentucky Derby Festival and held two Saturdays prior to the derby. There's been nothing released so far from the festival organizers to indicate that some of the festival events have been postponed or even under consideration for postponing. At the same time, I can't imagine that it will be acceptable for ~625,000 people to gather in close proximity on the shores of the Ohio River in mid-April to watch an air show and fireworks display.

One other thing to consider: August 15th was the date that Thunder was originally postponed to in 2020, prior to being canceled altogether. August 15th also falls on a Sunday in 2021, which is odd because Thunder is always held on Saturday. That makes me wonder if this is simply a date mix-up on the schedule for 2021... or if there's some other event/plans in the works for Louisville besides the traditional Thunder Over Louisville.

I thought the same thing - I assumed they were giving up on any hope of April and trying for August from the get go. I didn't check that the 15th was a Sunday, so I agree it seems likely that this is a mixup. However, April doesn't seem realistic so maybe they will call it August 14th and carry on!

TOL is showing April 17 on their website, which is a Saturday in 2021. I expect them to attempt that and push it back if necessary.

That is if the "China Virus" restrictions continue to proceed, but now, for some reason, I am feeling somewhat confident that airshows could happen in the Springtime of 2021, but with guidelines of course, wouldn't doubt they would Implement that type of precaution, especially in a post-pandemic world. But pushing back to August it would seem somewhat legitimate, but if I were in their shoes, I'd probably wait until January or February to make that decision, unlike Airshow London which the organizers which automatically decided to host the "Sky-Drive" format again, but I can see why being push backed to august may seem reasonable, for the health and safety of all and probably to ensure they can execute a safe & fun event by next year. Seems just right for almost all Air Shows?

A few things I've noticed from Air Combat Command, one of them is TOL. Officially, TOL will be held the 15th of August

Actually, ACC states in yellow that the show has changed its date to April 17.

Oh, well silly me, should've have noticed that there, but to be Frank I did give thought that they actually push the event back, but that's good news their still forwarding it to the 17th of April.

Here is the latest update on Thunder Over Louisville:
The Derby Festival will produce a tribute to Thunder Over Louisville, centered around its traditional date of Saturday, April 17th. Due to the pandemic, the 2021 Thunder tribute will be held without spectators and will not be held at the waterfront. The overall Thunder show has been reimagined for this year.

Said Gibson, “This year’s Thunder Over Louisville will be like no other. While we can’t gather at the waterfront, we’re still planning to have elements of the air show and fireworks. We’re working with our sponsors, partners and local media outlets to help share this unique Thunder tribute with the community.”
