But now after watching today's show on LiveAirshowTV, I can't help but wonder if the Blue Angels are going to fly as a five ship for '21 after all or if there will somebody on the team taking Cary Rickoff's place. Did Cary Rickoff have some type of medical issue that forced him stand down?

So the rumor is that a medical issue forced the original number 6 to step down late in winter training. A replacement pilot (Lance Benson) has been flying with the team as number 6. He flew with them during practice on Thursday and Friday, but because he is not officially on the team (no number on his flight suit even) he did not perform during the official show. I expect that he will soon be certified onto the team officially and then begin flying shows.

Another interesting development is that the team pretty much stuck to flat show maneuvers so far this weekend, even with mostly clear skies today. They have not done a single looping maneuver and only a few rolls. I am quite puzzled why they can't turn the high show maneuvers loose.

That said, the five-ship routine they flew today includes an extra sneak photo pass which might be the best Blue Angels photo op I've ever seen!
What happened to the Diamond Tuck under Break? I believe that's the one I'm thinking of.

The Blue Angels added Thunder Over Michigan (Aug 7-8) to their schedule, which means the show will feature both them and the Thunderbirds!

They also added a show at MCAS Cherry Point on Sept 25-26, which probably isn't a surprise to regular forum members as we've speculated on that one

Interesting catch from a Facebook commenter - the updated schedule omits Fort Worth in October. May be a typo but not sure.

A new graphic is up with Fort Worth listed again. Looks like they fixed the typo!

FYI - I see that ESPN's College Gameday Show will be at Metlife Stadium in NJ this weekend for the Army - Navy Game,
and saw that ESPN also posted this teaser pic with the Blue Angels in it, and I was just curious if anyone has heard any
official news from the Blues yet on if they will be doing the Navy's pre-game flyover for the game ??

FYI - I just found out that the Blue Angels won't be doing the Navy Flyover for the Army - Navy Game.
It will be done by (4) F-18 Super Hornets from VFA-37 "Ragin Bulls" and VFA-213 "Blacklions" from NAS Oceana.

According to this Facebook post, the Gladiators' demo jet will be featured in a video that plays during the flyby. I also notice some "Go Navy, Beat Army!" decals on the wings and fuselage. Hope those stay on for the air show season.
