Per 2022 ICAS Calendar the Blue Angels will perform in Chicago while the USAF Thunderbirds perform at McMinnville, Oregon.

Chicago is one of only two midwestern shows to host the F-22 this year.

It should be interesting to see what happens with the Chicago air and water show in 2022. Long time director Rudy Malnati Jr died on Christmas Eve.

Yeah, he also directed the Milwaukee Air & Water show along with the now-defunct Rockford & Gary airshows. Sad, but I'm sure the Chi show will go on.

Rudy Malnati Jr., 65, passed away on December 24, 2021, after a long, private battle with cancer. Rudy was born and raised in Chicago and was known to be a true “Chicagoan”. Rudy grew up working with his father, Rudy Sr., who was the creator of Chicago deep dish pizza at Pizzeria Uno. He then went on to own his own restaurant, Pizano’s Pizza and Pasta.
Growing up in the city near Lake Shore Park, he began his early exposure to the park district, and this would be the start of his journey with the Chicago Air and Water Show. He was an employee with the Park District at an early age and when the Air and Water Show moved to the Mayor’s Office of Special Events, he moved with it. He considered it a privilege to work for Mayor Daley. He would also go on to direct various additional air shows including Milwaukee, WI, Gary, IN, and Rockford, IL. He felt it was a true honor to work with various flight teams. He was named an honorary US Navy Blue Angel, US Air Force Thunderbird, Navy Leap Frog, and Army Golden Knight. The respect he had for the military was unmeasurable and the friends were priceless to him.
In 2016, he received the Bob Hoover Wingman Award (fka Wingman Award), an award that is presented each year at the International Council of Air Shows (ICAS) convention to an individual from within or outside the air show business who has been a reliable supporter or advocate of the air show business. https://youtu.be/oDIkojoHXJA https://airshows.aero/News/ID/498

F-35C demo team to fly at the Chicago Air and Water Show per their Instagram page

Is that in addition to the F-22 already scheduled? If so, impressive.

Yup. The F35C demo is an “unofficial” Navy demo team flying 2x F35Cs in their shows. Haven’t seen em in person yet but I’ve heard nothing but good things. I’ll be seeing them at Oshkosh this summer before hand, so I’ll be able to attest to how they are.
