What does the “air power demo” consist of?
It’s a “Combined Arms” style demo. Basically, several F/A-18s from Oceana perform ACM (Air Combat Maneuvers) over the field with pyrotechnics to simulate air strikes. Expect several Super Hornets to be in the air. Also, the VFC-12 Hornets act as enemy aircraft. I would expect them to be flying some of their new Super Hornets as well.
You may see some other supporting aircraft; I’ve seen an E-2 Hawkeye and an MH-60S in the past. Idk to what extent the C-2 or Coast Guard aircraft will be participating.

This year there doesnt seem to be any VFC-12 Omars participating. Ive seen the practice twice and no Omars. Was a mix of Felix, Rampagers, War Party and possibly Black Lions and Gunslingers. Only color i saw was the Rampagers CAG today. No color yesterday during the first practice.
The C-2 flyby i believe is because it SHOULD be the jump plane for the Leap Frogs, who should be doing the flag jump after all the bombers do their thing and before the fleet-flyby

According to Flightaware, The MAM AD-4 Skyraider arrived, I assume for static? An L-19 Bird Dog and the C-2 are also apparently there.
American Airpower Heritage Museum FG-1D en route.
Also en route is a USCG C-130 from Elizabeth City. I guess that's the "Coast Guard flyby" aircraft.

Anybody have any intel on the F-35C team? As of 4:30pm the team had not arrived. I was talking to the locals and heard everything from them being grounded because of engine problems or the ejection seat issues to they were stuck in Texas. That said, I have heard some rumbles over there in the last hour or so and some fast movers definitely came in. Maybe that was them.

Is parking on the base for Oceana (Sunday)? Where do you enter from? I did see that I missed out on their preferred parking.
I saw that Andrews is off base at FedEx Field and they bus you in.

You park at the base, enter from Tomcat Blvd.

Went down to Oceana for the practice show: the static display was dreadful, but what can you expect when you have to compete with Andrews for available assets? The flying was great though! Really cool to see the airborne change-of-command for VFC-12!
