Really glad I made the choice to go over to RIAT instead of heading down to Thunder Over Michigan this year. It was quite the show once again! 8.5 hours of flying with such a great variety of acts. Seeing the Korean Black Eagles was quite impressive!
It still amazes me the amount of European aviation "photographers"/enthusiasts that act like spoiled princesses and feel they need to completely shove into peoples space, complain about the "boring" displays constantly, etc. etc. Was quite annoying to have to experience that once again but in the end we had a really nice time at the Saturday show.
A few pictures from the show Saturday:

Had massive expectations built up from missing two airshow seasons, and this played into a sense of disappointment from a rather slow first arrivals day and a bunch of what were, in reality, insignificant hiccups on the second arrivals day. This was followed by three exceptional days of Airshow flying and the greatest departures day of all time.
Did FRIAT again this year, whilst it is becoming evermore expensive, it is still of value for me due to the sense of community, secure enclosure with great facilities and the only way to get the best seat in the house for departures day.
Special thanks to the parking crew for accommodating us.. My partner injured her knee before we travelled and had quite limited mobility... Parking staff took the initiative of parking us in accessible parking without any fuss or bloodymindedness. That said, the continuing, inexplicable decision to keep the pedestrian gate in blue lot locked until the end of the makes the accessible portion of blue lot to be near meaningless.
Photos... A monumentally successful year from that perspective. I love my Nikkor 200-500mm but the atmospherics on some days made its reach pointless ... So for several days I left that beast in the hotel I relied on the featherweight Sigma 100-400mm... It performed brilliantly, confirming it as one of the best photographic bargains out there.
One of my best RIAT trips... Will have to hold me until Air Show London

Hi Great pictures, sorry you had to endure the grumpy Europeans - I live in UK and I don't understand the attitude of moaning all the time either! I dont think that many seem to appreciate what they have and some seem to think the show is only put on for them. Hey-ho

Please don't tar us all with the same brush - some of us really enjoyed RIAT 2022 and go to airshows to enjoy ourselves - not to find fault with everything!
After a long three-year absence, the Royal International Air Tattoo returned in 2022 with the most outstanding showcase of global military aviation. The highlights from RIAT 2022 were plentiful with Bahrain becoming the 57th nation to send an aircraft to the event, the very welcome return of the Republic of Korea Air Force’s amazing Black Eagles and the European airshow debut of a United States Air Force Boeing E-4B Nightwatch airborne command and control aircraft. All together this was classic RIAT which was matched by some scorching weather reminiscent of the golden 1990’s period. A full review and image gallery can be found HERE.
