I recommend to put as to be determined or deleting this thread, whatever works with you, because I know I mentioned potential dates in my 2022 schedule bucket list on the aviation disscuiton thread, but the dates for the 2022 edition will not be confirmed until this December, the reason why I mentioned the dates is that I overheard from one of our Air Museum staff at March Field, that POF is examining the possibility of planting an airshow sometime around that time, it's likely they are since there are three other airshows that are occurring on the first weekend of May, the show, in that case, will not receive a single ship demo team due to the other 3 shows will be competing for the single ships, in the meantime, POF is still working on how they will execute an Airshow implementing with safety measures for this year you can follow that thread up in the link below (I will be providing some inside information at that). The same thing goes for Hangar 24 2022 edition, nothing is potential neither official. We just overhear this kind of information since we are somewhat in a puzzling way close to them, but again we never know if it's official unless they assert so to us, or they release that type of information on their Website.

The F-16 Viper Demo Team has swapped places with the F-35A Lightning II Demo Team as they'll be at Chino instead of NAS Jacksonville.

I am shocked to hear this.
The event seems to have vanished from the POF website without announcement or notification.
Does anyone know why? COVID comes to mind but I had hope we could move forward given vacines and boosters coupled with the fact that this is an outdoor even scheduled for October.

Was it ever announced and promoted? If not, they likely figure they can simply not mention it anymore rather than announcing a cancellation.Rodan wrote: ↑Mon May 02, 2022 4:47 pm I am shocked to hear this.

I assume there is trouble with sponsorship and funding more than any Covid concerns. I have talked to a number of people in the industry who say that the increased costs of the equipment and services needed to run a show are really straining the budget and may lead to cancellations.
For what it's worth, I was hearing people who would know sound very unsure about Chino months ago. It was on shaky ground this year. Hopefully it can come back to what it used to be.

Awful news for warbird fans if true. It's bad news when Chino and Flying Legends both are not taking place, no matter what the issues are. I am becoming increasingly mad at myself for deciding to book my trip to Chino for 2020 instead of 2019, thinking the 2020 show would be more special due to it being the 75th anniversary of the end of WWII. We all know how that worked out. I hope I didn't completely miss out on Chino.

I'm quite concerned that Planes of Fame won't have the neccessary funding to bring the airshow back to what it was. They've missed out on three years of airshows, their main source of funding, and with the economy getting worse, airshow fans are becoming much more selective with what shows they go to. I've been going to the show since 2009, so its devastating I will not get to enjoy the wonderful show for a 3rd consecutive year.
