Red Flags in 2022

Curious if anyone has any dates or info on 2022 Red Flags yet? Trying to plan out some trips. I expect there will be one in Jan/Feb, and then one in mid-late March. Either could work for my plans.

Ryan,

I'm thinking about doing the same.

I came across this on the Scramble Message Boards. It's Luke AFB's calendar. They list March7-18 as Red Flag 22-1, but going by previous years, it is usually Flag#2 and #1 is late Jan/early Feb. Side note, someone responded to the post about the Luke calendar, saying RF-1 is going to be from January 17- February 4, which is at this point is speculation.

Also, the March Red Flag ends the weekend of the Luke Days show. Just sayin ;)

I use the Scramble boards and Dreamland Resort pages to keep an eye on Red Flag info. They both usually post aircraft lists for the flags as well. I have seen Dreamland say that they get the aircraft lists from a FOIA request from Nellis AFB. I'm not sure how that works though lol

This was posted on the Dreamland Resort discussion board by their webmaster, Joerg Arnu:
I have posted my best guess for the 2022 Nellis exercise dates. The dates are only a somewhat educated guess based on previous year's schedule. We have filed a FOIA request for the official dates but based on past experience I do not expect a reply any time soon; if at all.

The last few years our predicted dates were mostly correct, but no guarantees. We will update the schedule when/if we receive a reply to our FOIA request.
The predicted dates for next year's Red Flags:

22-1: January 24 - February 11
22-2: March 7 - March18
22-3: July 18 - August 5

Again, these dates are an estimate based on previous years flags. Hopefully we get dates confirmed soon. Participant lists would be nice too ;)

Hi Ryan

Just saw this now. The dates above are accurate. If restrictions allow I'd like to do -1 and -2.

This is a great site for exercises:

To throw a wrench in all this, a poster on the Dreamland discussion board stated he has a source from Nellis AFB and states RF 22-1 is Jan 31-Feb 11 :?:

I wish Nellis would post the dates themselves so we can end the speculation lol

In other news, if the above is true, I need to rebook a flight to a week later (oops). That's if I even decide to go with this new omicron variant out there. My booster appointment isn't until Feb 5th as it's a logjam with everyone in Ontario trying to get it.

So....we'll see

I live on the south side of Vegas, within earshot but not eyeshot of Nellis. There's been a lot of rumbling the last few days and after checking ADS-B today I found tracks of RAF Voyagers and a Typhoon, so I wonder of 22-1 has kicked off early?

I believe participating pilots get some familiarization flights on the range ahead of RF actually starting, or maybe just 'normal' training missions?
