Shuttleworth Collection Airshows 2022

Post by Flightline Uk » Thu Nov 18, 2021 7:12 pm

Shuttleworth Collection, Old Warden Aerodrome, Bedfordshire, UK
Although Sundays revert to type, drive-in air shows will remain in 2022 for the evening shows in May, June and July.

Making a comeback in July is the ever-popular Fly Navy event, where a number of surprises are hoped to be on show.

The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee will be marked with June’s Sunday show, making a great occasion for all the family to enjoy, whilst August’s Family Air Show will have all kinds of exciting attractions both on the ground and in the skies – so be prepared to be thrilled!

Flying Proms takes place in August. Combining musical scores with an evening flying programme, it’s a great excuse to relax with a picnic and a glass of something fizzy.

The September Steam and Vintage Air Show celebrates a bygone era, so don your best vintage clothes and dig out the Glenn Miller record for this pageant of power.

Closing the season is Shuttleworth’s traditional October Race Day, combining both vintage racers with both wings and wheels.

The 2022 Display Season was opened at the Shuttleworth Collection with the Season Premiere Airshow on the 1st May. After a tough couple of years under restrictions, the new season opened with hopes that coronavirus restrictions are a thing of the past. While much of the Season Premiere featured many regulars from the Collection’s fleet of aircraft, it also included some debuts and welcome returnees. More images and a full review can be found HERE.

B-17G "Sally B" self-confirmed for the Drive-In Military Evening Airshow on Jun 18 - that's a nice treat.

As in previous years, the May Evening Airshow at Old Warden was themed around Special Operations. The show brought together both of the UK’s airworthy Lysanders once again plus a gaggle of Cessna Bird Dogs. Another type not usually seen in large number is the Miles Magister, but Shuttleworth managed to attract all of the European based airworthy examples .A full review and image gallery can be found HERE.
