On this day 34 years ago, the US Navy's Blue Angels selected the F/A-18 Hornet as their next aircraft of choice. The team would transition from the A-4 Skyhawk to the F/A-18 Hornet at the conclusion of that year.

Good morning Avgeekery Nation! Our eye opener this Friday morning is the Sikorsky S-76 helicopter- first flown on this date in 1977. Sikorsky has built more than 1,000 of these versatile twin-engine rotorcraft.
