On this date in 1972, the Boeing EC-137D Airborne Warning and Control System (AWACS) flew for the first time. Now known at the E-3 Sentry, these Airborne Early Warning & Control (AEW&C) platforms have been a game changer for decades.

88 years since the first flight of the Martin B-10. In fact of 348 B-10s that were built, only one complete airframe remains in existence. It is on display at the US Air Force Museum at Wright-Patterson AFB in Dayton, Ohio.
Good morning Avgeekery Nation! Our eye opener this Sunday morning is the Martin B-10 bomber- flown for the first time on this date in 1932. The B-10 was the first mass-produced all-metal monowing bomber, but it was rendered obsolete quickly by Boeing, Douglas, and North American bombers during the 1930s.
