French Air Force Receives KC-130J Super Hercules

Post by n33d4sp33d_85 » Sat Feb 08, 2020 6:19 pm

New KC-130J tanker for French Air Force

On 7 February 2020, the newest French Super Hercules was delivered to the Armée de l'air (AdlA, French Air Force) at Base Aérienne 123/Orléans-Bricy.

A few days earlier, the KC-130J Super Hercules aerial refueler, serial 5890/61-PR, took off from Lockheed Martin's facility in Marietta (GA).

France's ET-2/61 "Franche- Comté" squadron has now a total of four Super Hercules aircraft. Two C-130J-30 combat delivery airlifters were delivered in 2017 and 2018, and the first KC-130J was delivered in September 2019. All of these Super Hercules' are operated from Orléans/Bricy, alongside France’s existing 14-strong C-130H(-30) legacy fleet.

In the future, the German Air Force will also receive six C-130J/KC-130J Super Hercules aircraft. It is expected that these will become part of a joint Franco-German squadron at Orléans/Bricy and/or Évreux/Fauville (both bases are in France).
