Possible Sale Of AT-6C Wolverine Aircraft To Tunisia

Possible FMS sale to Tunisia for four AT-6C Wolverine light attack aircraft

On 25 February 2020, the US State Department approved a possible Foreign Military Sale to the Al Quwwat al-Jawwiya al-Jamahiriyah At'Tunisia (Tunisian Air Force) of four Textron Aviation AT-6C Wolverine Light Attack Aircraft and related equipment for an estimated cost of USD 325,8 million.

The Government of Tunisia has requested to buy four Wolverines with supporting equipment, to include amongst many other things: spare engines and spare parts, Multi-Spectral Targeting Systems, personnel, pilot and technician training, aviator flight suits, ferry and logistical support.

The contract also involves weapons training with the intention to use 468 Mk81 250Lb general purpose bombs, 18 BDU-50s (Mk82 Filled Inert), 66 GBU-12s; sixty Guidance Sections for GBU-10,12 and 16, 48 Mk82 500lb bombs, and 3290 Advanced Precision Kill Weapon Systems (APKWS) and six .50 machine guns. The proposed sale will improve Tunisia's ability to fight against current and future threats, especially focused on the Counter Insurgency task.

Tunisia is facing a constant threat so it has a need for an increasing capability and capacity to counter-terrorism and other violent extremist organization threats. The Quwwat al-Jawwiya al-Jamahiriyah At'Tunisia's (Tunisian Air Force) most probably will replace their aging MB326 jet trainers with the AT-6C.
