Contract for six AH-64E(I) Apache helicopters for Indian Army Aviation Corps

On 25 February 2020, India and the US signed a USD 800 million contract for six Apache attack helicopters for the Indian Army. The six helicopters follow a contract for 22 AH-64E Apaches of which 17 have been delivered so far. The remaining five are expected to be delivered by the end of March 2020.

Deliveries to the Indian Army will start in 2023. The contract is a hybrid procurement, a Direct Commercial Sale (DCS) between Boeing and the Indian Ministry of Defence and a Foreign Military Sale (FMS) between the governments of India and the US.

The FMS contract includes weapon systems, training, aircraft certification, and components including General Electric T700-701D turboshaft engines, electro-optical sensors, and radar. The DCS part of the procurement primarily consists of the aircraft (without engines and sensors), logistic support, spares and services.

The contract was signed during US president Trump's visit to India on 24 and 25 February 2020.
