Bentwaters Cold War Museum's Jaguar GR1A Completes First High Speed Taxi Run

Great news for Jaguar lovers

On Sunday 15 March 2020, the Bentwaters Cold War Museum's Jaguar GR1A, serial XX741 and coded EJ, managed to perform the first high-power taxi run at Bentwaters. According to the Museum's website, the test proved successful and stretches the path forward for future public events and photoshoots.

According to the Scramble Magazine database, the Jaguar first flew in October 1974 as a model GR1. The aircraft was upgraded to GR1A and flew with 6 Squadron, coded EJ, at RAF Coltishall in the county of Norfolk. The fighter aircraft finally left active duty in August 1994 and was stored at RAF Shawbury (county of Shropshire) for 10 years. In July 2005 the aircraft was sold to Everett Aero in Sproughton and by November 2009 it came under restoration at the Bentwaters Cold War Museum. RAF Coltishall closed on 30 November 2006.

On the museum's website a great video can be seen with some "on-board" cameras.
