RNLAF CH-47 Chinook Receives Special Paint Scheme

Post by n33d4sp33d_85 » Wed Mar 18, 2020 1:10 pm

Dutch Chinook gets impressive make-over!

On 17 March 2020, the special anniversay markings were revealed for the 75th anniversary of the Koninklijke Luchtmacht (KLu, RNLAF - Royal Netherlands Air Force) 298 Squadron 'Nihil Nobis Nimium' operating the CH-47D Chinook transport helicopters from Gilze-Rijen air base (NL).

‘The Beast’, CH-47D D-666 of 298sq, has special colours applied to commemorate the anniversary of the squadron. On the right side you see a grizzly bear and on the left a dragonfly. The design was created by Jeroen van Veenendaal (Kerosene Creations).

The great looking paint-job was done by men and women of the RNLAF's aircraft maintenance unit, 980 Squadron, at Woensdrecht air base. They performed a job well done, from the design to the actual result.

Originally the 298 Squadron jubilee party for invited guests was planned for 16 April 2020, but due to the COVID-19 (coronoa virus) crisis this party has been cancelled. A new date will be proposed as soon as operations can return to "normal" again.
