Just after the sun set over Dover Air Force Base (DE), the slowly fainting light of a beautiful August evening colors the sky over a flightline of Lockheed C-5M Super Galaxies, where airmen work on C-5M serial 87-0045 (construction number 500-131).

With Fiscal Year 1987, 87-0045 is "the youngest" of some sixteen C-5Ms based at Dover AFB with the 9th Airlift Squadron "Pelicans"/436th Airlift Wing and associated Air Force Reserve Command's 709th Airlift Squadron/512th Airlift Wing.

Last year RAF F-35B and U.S. Air Force F-35A jets flew to Amendola, Italy, to take part in joint missions with the local-based Italian Air Force F-35A jets.
We flew there to report about the tri-national training. You can find our report (that includes some stunning air-to-air photographs we took from a C-130J) here:

This B-roll video was filmed by the Italian Air Force Troupe Azzurra during the exercise. It's worth a look.

Some great early morning shots from the back seat of the PZL TS-11 Iskra belonging to the Polish Air Force national Aerobatic team the white and red sparks! Not long until those jets are retired from the service.

To commemorate its 70th birthday, Aerolíneas Argentinas decided to paint B737-700 LV-GOO in a retro livery. A silver lining for the airline, which is impacted heavily by the Corona pandemic.

Currently, the fleet consists of ten A330-200s, eight B737-700s, 31 B737-800s and five B737-8s. Of these three A330s and only two B737-800s are in service, while the rest is parked.

As directed by the government, the airline is also in the process of merging with Austral. The government is the owner of both airlines.

For the upcoming Bollywood-movie Bell Bottom, Titan Airways' A321 G-POWU was painted in the livery of Indian Airlines with fake registration VT-EAL. It flew from London-Stansted to Prestwick on 5 September where the scenes with the aircraft are being filmed.
Fraser Murdoch photographed the aircraft on 7 September at Prestwick.

Always a pleasure to see bright markings on fighter aircraft. The United States Navy provided the photo of this colourful EA-18G Growler, BuNo 169124/NL-510. The aircraft is operated by Electronic Attack Squadron 138 (VAQ-138), also known as the "Yellow Jackets". VAQ-138 is an expeditionary Growler squadron, based at Naval Air Station Whidbey Island (WA). Their radio callsign is "RAMPAGE", also brightly marked on this aircraft.

NAS Whidbey Island (WA) is the home base of no less than fourteen Growler units, of which five squadrons are earmarked as a Joint Expeditionary Squadron. Whidbey Island can for sure be named Growler Town.

VAQ-138 was established as an operational squadron in February 1976 and made its first deployment (to the Mediterranean Sea) aboard the USS Saratoga (CV-60). It was equipped with the Grumman EA-6B Prowler. From late 2009 through 2010, VAQ-138 returned to VAQ-129 "New Vikings" ('NJ-5xx'), to facilitate the transition from a sea going EA-6B Prowler squadron to an expeditionary EA-18G Growler squadron. After earning their mission ready qualifications in 2011, the Yellow Jackets made their first deployment as an expeditionary squadron to Al-Asad Air Base (Iraq) and Al-Jaber (Kuwait) in support of Operations IRAQI FREEDOM and NEW DAWN. In 2013 the Yellow Jackets again deployed to the Middle East in support of Operation ENDURING FREEDOM.

Surprise RAF Typhoon colours

On 9 September 2020, the first Royal Air Force Typhoon in some special colourscheme was photographed at RAF Coningsby (UK). This type of colours has been seen on earlier occasions, but without the roundel and further markings. By then it seemed more or less a sort of primer.

It is assumed this Typhoon will be the first aggressor Typhoon for the RAF's IX(B) Squadron based at RAF Lossiemouth. According to the RAF, mentioned in a publication from June 2020, this newest Typhoon unit will get new facilities at RAF Lossiemouth. Their re-role from Tornado to Typhoon, and move from RAF Marham to RAF Lossiemouth, was announced in the Strategic Defence and Security Review 2015.

The work on the new facilities will start around this period (or has already started) and is expected to take around two years. It will involve the refurbishment of an existing hangar and construction of new technical and storage facilities. Once fully established in their new facilities, IX(B) Squadron will be the RAF’s dedicated fourth-generation aggressors. This involves simulating the tactics, threats, and procedures of adversaries to create the best training environment for Royal Air Force pilots. While providing this essential training, the squadron will also be involved in quick reaction alert duties alongside 1(F) Squadron, II(AC) Squadron, and 6 Squadron.

With the delivery of their first of 35 Airbus A320neos nearing, Viva Air will introduce a new livery, shown here by A320neo MSN 10136, which is wearing F-WWBH as test-registration. It will become HK-5352 once in Colombia.

Viva Air Colombia started operations in 2012 and currently operates a fleet of 22 A320s, although eleven of them are parked due to the current Corona-pandemic.
