Seems an F-16 went down at Nellis AFB this afternoon. Serious speculation that it was a tbird. Anyone have ideas or knowledge of this incident? Could be a serious blow to their season. Especially with a new leader.

Several media outlets reporting that an F-16 has crashed. Hearing the jet was from a Nellis squadron. Not sure if it was one of the Thunderbirds' jets, an aggressor or another squadron.

I am hearing a lot of rumors that this was a midair incident with one of the diamond pilots going down without punching out. The other aircraft was able to return to Nellis safely. I cannot find info to confirm any of this.

I have a very bad feeling that this was indeed a Thunderbird that went down, and it does not sound good for the pilot at this point. Awful news. :(

Praying the pilots are okay. This is just awful. Especially, with so many crashes lately in the past few days. Makes me nervous the pilot didn't punch out. :(

Very little news coming out tonight. I wonder if this is tied up with the Air Force's recent move to cut off media access to units. I suspect now that we will not get official confirmation of it being a Thunderbird (or not) until the pilot's name is released, which I expect to happen tomorrow.

It is almost certain at this point that the crash was fatal - we would have been told more if it wasn't.

Yeah, in the past they seemed to release details not long after when they had incidents. The fact that nothing has come out yet doesn't seek good...

This is very sad news indeed. Wishing the team a speedy recovery. First the Reds, now this. What an awful start to the year.
