As with any and all shows, I'm sure it all depends on many factors. They can plan on being there, but cancel last second for many reasons. Kinda like the F-4 for Selfie.

"The very rare Collings Foundation Curtiss-Wright P-40B Tomahawk will attend the Thunder Over Michigan Air Show September 2, 3 & 4, 2017. This will be the North American air show debut of this ultra rare historic warbird." This was confirmed by the Collings Foundation!!!

The Me 262 that cancelled back in 2015 was NOT from the Collings Foundation but from the Military Aviation Museum. In addition, the cancellation was due to issues with the FAA and not maintenance.

The 262 did cancel (and months in advance) back in 2010 and that was because she wasn't quite ready for flight yet. TOM was to be one of her first shows. The F-4's issue came from avionics, but she was ready for Selfridge. She just took flight again last month and is just working through some issues still (which were only discovered after flights). When you have the only one and it costs a lot to maintain, it's just the nature of the beast.

The P-40B was announced late for that reason. It's flying again and the announcement was to be made when it was known that the bird was in the air again and ready for appearances. Of course, there are things that can keep these old birds grounded from maintenance to personnel issues. When you are dealing with warbirds, it's just what you face.

Counting down the days. A good weekend is ahead!
