Got an e-mail tonight that since they are no longer offering 'the ditch' for photographers, EAA has constructed four photo stands near the showline (south of the plaza) for media only. I am really concerned that this will destroy any sight lines that we used to have. I'm heading to the grounds tomorrow so we'll see.

Kyle Franklin, this year's Bill Barber award winner, will be debuting an aerobatic routine is a Kitfox S7 Speedster in Wednesday's airshow.

Now that's the kind of thing I go to Oshkosh to see!

But I acknowledge that many people love the civilian non-warbird aerobatic acts that take up so much of the afternoon air shows. Just not my cup of tea. The world of aviation is made up of many and varied aspects.

Missed Doc arriving by about 15 minutes. I was over in Manitowoc with the T-34s and couldn't make it over to Oshkosh in time. I was able to snap these photos just as she shut down though!

I'll be back again tomorrow for 9-27 arrivals!

(my phone upload failed, so you'll have to suffer through these FB-compressed images!

Just wanted to point out the live webcam streams on YouTube to anyone who isn't at Oshkosh. They mainly show the static displays from a few different perspectives. Here's one:

The AirVenture videos have begun! Here are some arrivals from yesterday, including two F-86 Sabres, one of them the F-86A that has finally made it in

Thank you very much! I am the main force behind AS but @RFDGuy helps out with video quite a bit also. This year we also have @Copperbeltjack with us doing more produced videos like interviews and such. I have a 15 minute video of today's arrivals rendering right now - look for it in the morning. I was disappointed that we did not get any major warbirds on runway 27 today, it usually gets a bunch but they all seemed to go to runway 36 instead. Not sure if it is something intentional or luck of the draw.

We still got plenty of action on 27, including one RV that nearly killed us (bounced hard on landing and headed straight for us while barely going around) and a couple others who overflew the crowd. The National Parks Service vintage biplane gave us a scare too when it careened off the runway. Ended up spinning around but stopped upright in the grass. One Piper Saratoga(?) cut off a G450 and forced them to go around. That was a little tense for a moment and I'll post some interesting photos soon of that.

No shortage of excitement at Oshkosh!

Photos of the Piper/Gulfstream incident. Very glad there was some separation here - watching them merge together was not fun.
