B-17 Crash In Connecticut

Post by RyanS » Wed Oct 02, 2019 2:24 pm

Getting reports that the Collings Foundation B-17 Flying Fortress crashed today at Bradley International Airport in Windsor Locks, CT. The Wings of Freedom Tour (which includes the B-17 Nine o Nine) is scheduled to be there today, but not leaving until Octover 3rd. That makes it very likely that this is a ride flight for passengers if it was the B-17 or one of the other tour aircraft.

All of this is unconfirmed. Please add any info you have to this thread

B-17s giving rides carry roughly a dozen people. Sounds like at least one person is being medevaced with serious burns

I'm reading reports that it hit a building, possibly while trying to make an emergency landing.

Had this screen cap of a news feed sent to me. Looks like the aircraft remained upright but went right into a fuel farm.

Latest reports say two dead, six transported to the hospital with three of those critical.

Eyewitness reports (not always accurate) describe the aircraft landing with one engine not turning. The FAA is said to have confirmed that it was making an emergency landing.
