The solo pilot of Patrulla Aguila was sadly killed today as his jet crashed into the sea near San Javier, the team's base. It's the third fatal crash of a C-101 from San Javier in just seven months - one of which tragically claimed the life of a former Patrulla Aguila soloist who had recently left the team. The Spanish AF have confirmed in the past few minutes that the pilot did not actually eject, although I don't believe we know for certain yet whether it was a Patrulla Aguila sortie or a general training flight, as the team's pilots are also full-time instructors.
