77 years ago today:
Aircraft workers at Malton, Ontario, swarm around the first Canadian-built Lancaster bomber. The Avro 683 Lancaster X, the first Canadian-built four-engined aircraft, took its first flight #OTD in 1943. Named the Ruhr Express, the bomber served with 419 Squadron in Europe. Do you know what eventually became of it?

75 years ago today:
#OTD in 1945, the Kyūshū J7W1 Shinden ("Magnificent Lightning") prototype made its first flight. The unique design featured wings at the rear of the fuselage, a forward canard, and pusher engine. It was to be a cutting-edge land-based interceptor for the Imperial Japanese Navy (IJN) built in response to Boeing B-29 Superfortress. Only two prototypes were finished before the end of war though... do you know what happened to them?
