Nice to see the Gulf Coast Salute getting back into business! Tyndall AFB was all but flattened by Hurricane Michael (and indeed, I am still not back in my house after the hurricane...) and it's good to see things returning to normal. This used to be a regular every-other-year event that being local, I always looked forward to. Now I just have to wait TWO MORE YEARS... :|

Of interest to photography, it's the best lighting possible for an air show, with the sun almost never in front of the viewer. Only during the early morning hours will the sun be in the frame, and only while looking well to the right.

Definitely happy to see Tyndall back on the schedule! Always loved going to this one! Now if we can get them to fly some QF-16's at the show...

Well, it's just been announced locally that the show is being moved out to the beach, turning the crowd around almost 180 degrees, and facing the sun the entire day...

I live here and I'm not sure I'm interested any more... but if I could get on a boat outside the show line, that would be a maybe.

[EDIT] Pretty sure this will also coincide with the annual spring Thunder Beach motorcycle rally they do here, which absolutely clogs the roads with stationary traffic. Those sections of road on the map below that are in red are red for a reason. You can walk faster than cars can drive through those areas. On that day, getting to that site from my house just across the bay will take longer than getting from my house to Tallahassee! Pretty sure I'm not even going to try.

Set to join the Thunderbirds at next year's show is Randy Ball and his MiG-17.

There's still references to Tyndall AFB when it appears this is a beach show. It's certainly a little confusing but I got the message.

The last time I was down in this area was in the late 80s during spring break. I'm sure the area has changed drastically since then but I vividly recall Panama City Beach having one of the most beautiful beaches I had ever been to. Saw a lot of military aircraft back then, too... you name it I probably saw at least one flying.

With the large military presence down there between the Air Force and Navy, this could potentially have a fantastic array of flyovers and demos.

Add the QF-16, KC-46 and F-15EX flybys as revealed on Tyndall's official Instagram.

This show has peaked my interest. Will be coming from Tallahassee with my parents if it seems like it will be a bust due to traffic, we will probably spend the day in Panama City.
