On October 9, 2023, about 7:25 PM Central Daylight Time, the Polish-operated Worner NL-STU/1000 Hot Gas Balloon (D-OGBL) competing in the 66th annual Gordon Bennett Cup competition during the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta struck powerlines in the small town of Crandall, Texas. Two people were subsequently transported to a local hospital for their injuries, and one with serious injuries.
