Hello All:
I have never attended an airshow and am looking for advice as to what show to attend. A little background. USAF 1966-1970, worked on B58s,A1E, C147 and B52s as an ordinance specialist. I always loved planes. I am in a situation where whatever show I go to, it will be the only one due to health issues. I would have to attend a show in February or March while I am able to travel. I want your opinions as to what show you would recommend. I live in Connecticut and have no problem traveling to almost any location. I would be helpful if there are other items of interest in the area since my wife will accompany me. Thank you for your time and Happy New Year.

Larry, thank you for my freedom. Airshow season is just getting started in February - few choices. March really gets going in the warmer latitudes - more choices. This website has a 2024 calendar - click tab above. Milavia has about the same info in a similar format at this site: https://www.milavia.net/airshows/calend ... erica.html As a USAF veteran you would probably enjoy attending a show at one of the Air Force bases: Davis-Monthan, AZ, Luke, AZ, MacDill, FL. You can expect nicer weather at those locations than Conn. You'll probably see some of the types you worked on. There is plenty of nice things to do for your wife.
The Navy and Marines also have shows in March.
Have fun.

First things first, thank you for your service.
Second, based on who'll be there and somewhere your wife would enjoy, I'd probably choose Luke AFB (near Phoenix, AZ), NAS/JRB New Orleans, or MacDill AFB near Tampa, FL. I haven't been to any of those locations but if I had to choose I'd probably choose Luke AFB or New Orleans.

Thanks to both of you for your replayed suggestions.I am think of going to the in New Orleans in March since we could combine it with touring the area. A lot depends on their cancellation policy since I have no idea what my condition will be by then.

Larry, the shows at the military bases are free. Us taxpayers have already paid for everything there.

New Orleans is on the military base there, so parking and admission would both be free, and you'd be able to bring your own chair and all that.CtCarGuy wrote: ↑Mon Jan 01, 2024 11:31 pm Thanks to both of you for your replayed suggestions.I am think of going to the in New Orleans in March since we could combine it with touring the area. If you're flying down to New Orleans, I would look into if that airshow offers any upgraded seating options. It may be a no refund option if you can't make it, but if you can, it'll guarantee you a good seat. I've been to dozens of airshows over the decades and have taken full advantage of paid seating at military bases, especially when I had airlined out to the airshow.
