Fun thought which is probably a long shot.
US Navy Blue Angels have an off weekend the weekend of the 2024 AERO Gatineau-Ottawa Airshow.
Would certainly be awesome to see the Red Arrows / Snowbirds / Thunderbirds & Blue Angels at the same show again.
Last time that happened was at the 2008 Quebec International Airshow. (I was fortunate to be in attendance)
Would also be nice if the Frecce Tricolori could stick around another couple weeks. (Wishful thinking / I know)
Question for anyone who might know.
Where will the Thunderbirds be staged? Assuming Ottawa/Macdonald–Cartier International Airport (IATA: YOW, ICAO: CYOW)
**Operational requirements for the USAF Thunderbirds require a minimum runway length for takeoff/landing is 7,000 feet. Show sites with takeoff/landing operations on runways less than 7,000 will require an alternate airfield (within 50 NM) from which our aircraft will operate.
**Gatineau-Ottawa Executive Airport (IATA: YND, ICAO: CYND) has 1 runway = 09/27 6,000 ft × 150 ft.

Wow.
As far as the Blue Angels are concerned, that's a mandatory off weekend. You won't see them anywhere that weekend.

They should stage out of YOW, all the previous shows that included aircraft that couldn't stage out of YND went there.kubx4672 wrote: ↑Sat Feb 10, 2024 2:22 am Fun thought which is probably a long shot.

Not to mention the space alone needed for snowbirds, red arrows, and thunderbirds.
