Searching for a NEW Camera Bag. Ideas?

Post by Adambadger88 » Fri Feb 23, 2024 7:29 am

I just recently bought a new camera lens for air shows and because of that I need a new camera bag. I am looking for suggestions on what type of camera bag I should get. I would prefer a velcro style backpack. I just recently purchased a Sigma 150-600MM F5-6.3 DG OS HSM | C and it does not currently fit in my current bag. The Sigma 150-600MM F5-6.3 DG OS HSM | C's dimensions are 105 x 260.1mm / 4.1 x 10.2 in. I would also like to put the other gadgets that I have in that same bag.

I'm not sure what bag you're coming from and I don't think this will be the optimal solution based on exactly what you're looking for, but I use the Peak Design Everyday Messenger.

It's probably not as comfortable as a backpack would be, but I prefer the messenger style for ease-of-access - and most importantly because I'm paranoid/annoyed about all of the different (and a lot of the times ambiguous) bag restrictions for base shows, it seems to fit the bill of being considered a "small camera bag" rather than a backpack or large camera bag.

My 60-600 is a little bigger and it fits in there (it takes up every bit of the length and width of the bag, with the lens hood on backwards) by itself (not on the camera) -I usually have a 16-80 lens with me and I can squeeze that attached to the camera in the bag with the 60-600 if needed for rain or something.

It has plenty of room for batteries, memory cards, etc. and I can toss a GoPro, Osmo Pocket, or some souvenirs in there on top of the lens if it's not on my camera, and I can strap my camping stool to it.

It can be a bit of a faff depending on how often you would be changing lenses but I thought I would toss my .02 out there since it's worked well for me for air shows as far as base restrictions.

I have this bag , have had it for 7 years now and love it ... It wears like a tank, Im not the most gentle and it hasnt ripped ,snagged, or a broken stitch, and the zippers I'm most impressed with as they haven't a hint of defect... With a limited lifetime warranty thats a hard find .
