Hoping for nice weather as I have never been to a show at the base.
The Friday Night event is kind of a way to draw people to Downtown and to support businesses that help support the event. It's a good time. As much as a night air show on base would be fun, this event always ends up being a grand time for all attendees.

We're hoping for nice weather too as we were only blessed with good weather in 2016 when the show was in September. We've had at least one rainy show day both in 2012 and 2019.

For those who have attended in the past, things are a bit different this year parking wise. Instead of utilizing business locations and shuttling from there, all parking for this year's event will be adjacent to the airport. The South Lot off Blufton and Winters Road will have walking access to the airshow grounds. The North lot near the terminal will be a quick shuttle bus ride to the grounds. There will be a rideshare drop off and motorcycle parking near Heritage Park. The VIP/ADA area will be near the usual spot with the south lot literally being just south of there. This should help spread out some of the heavy shuttle lines with more attendees being able to walk in now. Parking lots will open at 9 AM both Saturday & Sunday.

Parking map attached.

Coming in with a BOOM are the Blacksnakes Combat Search & Rescue (CSAR) Demo.
This will feature a realistic demonstration of what happens during a CSAR exercise. Some highlights include:
→ The demonstration begins with an airman simulating a downed airman from a jet that was just shot down calling in support from "Sandy 1", a flight of 4 A-10 Thunderbolts
→ A four-ship formation of A-10 Thunderbolts will roll onto the scene and take control of the communications, which will be broadcast to the crowd
→ The lead A-10 will call in a two-ship of UH-60 Blackhawk helicopters to pick-up the downed airman.
→ The A-10’s will suppress a threat with two strafing runs that will include pyrotechnic displays
→ The UH-60 Blackhawks will infil two PJ’s with a "fast rope" to stabilize and protect the downed airman
→ The A-10’s will protect the helicopter, PJ’s and downed airman with bomb runs that will use pyrotechnic displays
→ The UH-60 Blackhawk will hoist the PJ’s & downed airman into the helicopter & all aircraft will depart
Don’t miss this amazing demo on June 4th and 5th at the 122nd Fighter Wing. GA is free, but there are options for premium seating on our website. https://www.fwairshow.com/purchase-tickets/

CAF’s Red Tail P-51 will also not be attending the show due to supply chain issues with parts

Dang, that was one that I was most looking forward to seeing. Still excited for the show though, Matt Younkin and the C-5 static especially.

Anyone have recommendations where to watch arrivals and practice on Friday?

Friday starts with Sensory Hour and is media day. Many of the larger statics will have arrived on Thursday (though a few will lag behind on Friday...we don't have a full on arrival schedule yet). Getting anywhere near the base would be an issue, but RWY 5/23 will be closed, so all traffic will be utilizing 14/32. That means that areas by the FWA terminal would be the best for any remaining arrivals as long as the practice isn't going on. Some areas near the terminal are then in the show box.

So in 2019, originally we tried to watch from the viewing area near the terminal. Got a few arrivals from there (T-38, KC-135 were the main ones, the other heavies had already shown up). This was fine for about an hour until the police came and kicked us all out. "We were inside the box" is the excuse we were given. However the officers told us that we could go to the grass parking area and watch from there. This actually turned out to be a better option as during the practice day, stuff was coming right over the top of us (being buzzed by Dean's F-100 was something else)

I'm not sure if that would be an option this year as I think we just got lucky, but is something to keep in mind

Thanks, Shelbs. Where is the grass parking area (we're from out of town).

Anyone know if the T-birds are staying in Indy and for the ft Waye show instead of going back to Nellis? I am wondering if they will be practicing Friday.
