VistaJet receives Bombardier Global 7500 9H-VIS

On 25 March 2020, this brand new aircraft departed Montréal–Trudeau International Airport via Munich Airport to its final destination of Malta-Luqa International Airport.

With it being a new type within @VistaJet’s Global-fleet the crews have to do socalled touch-and-goes, where you fly a circuit around the airport, land and take-off again, without stopping. This is a requirement before a pilot can actually put the type rating on his/her license.

This training took place on 26 March and 9H-VIS (msn 70024) was seen making touch and goes on Malta's runway 31.

The end for the Oscar in Japan

On 26 March 2020, a ceremony was held at Kasumigaura (Japan) marking the end of all OH-6D (affectionately called 'Oscar') operations within the Japan Ground Self-Defense Force (JGSDF).

During the last couple of days, the majority of operational OH-6Ds was flown to Kasumigaura, where they will most likely be stored inside the Kanto Depot. No less than 18 OH-6Ds were assembled on the apron with a placard commemorating 51 years of JGSDF OH-6 operations.

Kawasaki Heavy Industries (KHI) manufactured 117 OH-6Js and 193 OH-6Ds for the JGSDF. These were operated by almost all units within the army. Besides the obvious role of observation helicopter, they were also used in the training role. In the latter role, they were replaced by the TH-480. However the JGSDF is in serious need of a replacement for the observation role. This was only partly covered by the Kawasaki OH-1 Ninja, now slowly re-entering service after being grounded following a crash.
