Hello,

I will be passing through on Saturday on my way to OshKosh. I was just wondering if there are any free area's to watch the show? I have never been to this airshow before so any advice would be great. I will be making my trip out that way starting this afternoon from Connecticut. Excited to see this show and also Oshkosh. First time for both.

So--- I would park at Columbia St. Marys--- it's usually like 10 bucks. I woukd them walk down along the water tower to the beach. That area is free, and imo, the best spot. The VIP stuff is just south of center.

On this map--- the red is where the operations/air boss are located. The blueish box is free seating and great seats, the yellow is higher up, but center point, and the green box is where I'd park.

Avoid Lincoln Memorial Drive at all costs--- that will be a nightmare

Ha...yeah #3 was a no show. I parked at McKinely Park / Marina. Free. Walked the long pier out into the lake and got some good close-ups of the planes being there.

I wanted to offer my thoughts on this year's show....First off it's the most crowded I have ever seen it..which I think is a good thing. I was very disappointed that they have fenced off the entire lakeshore...between the closed beaches (due to rip currents?) and viewing area restrictions there were no really good areas to watch the show...I tried to purchase the overpriced center view tickets but was told they were all sold out for the entire weekend...yet many empty chairs and open space seemed to be available...I was also told, not officially, that pro grade camera setups were not permitted in the viewing area. I have to say that I really enjoyed the shows in the past when you could arrive early and stake out a good spot...now it seems like that is no longer an option. I feel a pay to view area is ok but the entire lakefront should not be closed to the public..I believe that was my last Milwaukee air show...they have a good thing but monetizing it and restricting access is NOT the way to go in my opinion...All that said I have to say I enjoyed all the acts presented even though the Blue Angels were down a ship...and the crowd was full of nice friendly well behaved people. I will miss attending this but I can't see coming back...even though I couldn't get in the viewing area they still got 25 bucks from me for parking so I feel like I paid my share.....

I didn't attend the weekend, but showed up for practice on Friday. I parked at Mckinley Park (Marina) for free and walked the pier out some ways. Since many planes came close to the outer edge of the pier, that was a great spot to view them. First time for me visiting. Think I'll go again for practice. The only negative thing was the website showed practice from 10-3, but it was more like noon-4. For those who got there early, wasted time. At least the weather was perfect.
